7 MONTHS FELLOWSHIP IN UBIQUITOUS WEB SEARCH



This post announces the attribution of a 7 months fellowship for a Computer Science undergraduated student in the scope of the project SUMO (Automatic Text Summarization for Mobile Technologies) co-financed by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology and the European FEDER through the program POS_C.

The Fellowship has a duration of 7 months and the successful candidate will work on a project dealing with the development of an ubiquitous search engine developed for handheld devices and accessible for Visually Impaired People. The main work to be developped is the improvement of the efficiency of the existing prototype so that the system is capable of answering in reduced time to queries.

The candidate will have all the logistic support of the Centre of Human Language Technology and Bioinformatics of the University of Beira Interior. The scientific orientation will be assured by the responsible of the Centre of Human Language Technology and Bioinformatics of the University of Beira Interior, Assistant Professor Gaël Harry Dias.

The successful candidate must have an undergraduate course in Computer Science or in a similar area. An experience in Human Language Technology will be an added-value as well as knowledge in .NET technologies, especially Framework .NET 3.0, C # and WCF.

The value of the fellowship is 745 euros/month.

The candidates will have to provide:
(1) their detailed curriculum vitae,
(2) a letter of motivation and
(3) a list of disciplines with respective marks.

The evaluation of the candidates will be based on the following criteria of importance:
(1) Curriculum vitae,
(2) Knowledge of .NET Technologies,
(3) Knowledge in Human Language Technology,
(4) Interest in persuing studies in the area,
(5) If necessary, an interview will be made.
