Esteemed colleagues,

recently, a general email informed all employees matter-of-factly that a quite drastic change in the communication and email infrastructure of
the University of Oslo is under way.

Although we are aware that careful technical studies are behind it, the decision came more or less out of the blue and is presented as a done deal. Consequently the email stirred up quite some reactions throughout various departments and faculties of the University (researchers, professors, technical and administrative ansatte and also students). More than just a handful of university members consider the decision to be ill-founded and that it may have negative consequences for teaching, research and the overall functioning of the university.

We therefore kindly ask for a public meeting with the universitetsstyre as soon as possible, before any technical change takes place, to hear how the decision came about, to express our concern, and to discuss a set of specific questions we have not seen addressed anywhere.
