This research subscribes to the orientation that considers rural and urban space as representing a continuum. It recognises the specific identity of each space, without ignoring or overlooking economic, social and cultural interferences, exchanges and interactions. 
In addition to methodology, scale is another important aspect in defining the model to be applied. 
It may be concluded, for example, that the areas with most deprivation have fewer crimes involving robbery of vehicles or residences.

They are used in practically all the repossession cases involving the ZZZ in most Brazilian states. 
In 2007, the countries of the European Union reported 54 crimes on average per 1000 inhabitants. At the top of the list were Sweden, and England and Wales, where levels of reported crime were more than double the European average; in the Mediterranean countries and those that have more recently joined the European Union, the levels are much lower. Cyprus registered the lowest rate of all, with only 10 reported crimes per 1000 inhabitants. 
Cholera, for example, is spread through contaminated water and foodstuffs, and people infected with it suffer from diarrhoea that frequently leads to serious dehydration and death. 
However, given the many different types and forms of ZZZ that exist, the relationship between these spaces, the practice of physical activity and health has not yet been clearly demonstrated (Tzoulas et al., 2007).
Given the importance for this study of Health Centre accessibility, a model was prepared that enabled the distances to be gauged that populations would have to travel to reach their nearest Health Care Unit, attempting to reflect the conditions of the terrain and establish the time that would be taken.

Thus, as the people's lawyers in these bureaux gradually master the tools of civil procedural law necessary to defend ZZZ occupations against repossession suits, they are also asked to make use of legislation relating to cooperative, associative, agricultural, labour and environmental law, amongst others. 
Given the paucity of doctrine and jurisprudence in defence of the basic human rights of this social group, the prevalence of legislation committed to defending property rights and the increasing number of lawsuits brought against landless workers, the Movement's lawyers have over the years developed arguments designed to offer a more sophisticated legal defence of the rural workers.

Another common strategy used by the Movement and its lawyers is to develop contacts with the legislative power, via members of parliament. 
As for land use, the urban space, concentrated mostly in the city of São Tomé, has grown sharply. The area of the city has increased five-fold over the last 30 years in the expanding oil stain pattern, influenced by the existing road network.

Spatial variations were found that reveal that crime is not distributed randomly, but rather concentrated into «hotspots», relatively small areas that are particularly vulnerable to crime.

On 4th September 1998, 600 ZZZ families, who till then had been camped on the edges of the BR-285 highway, occupied the Nova Iorque (otherwise known as the Primavera Ranch), a rural estate in the municipality of Infante D. Henrique in the State of Rio Grande do Sul. 
Given the importance of analysing, comparing, interpreting and assessing the relationship between various characteristics of a place and the health of the population that resides there, this is an excellent tool for identifying regional discrepancies within a country, and for assessing and intervening in public health care systems (Borges, 2000).

Coimbra was chosen as the area of study because it has undergone rapid growth on the level of population and housing, attracting a very heterogeneous population; this has affected the wellbeing and health of those living there. 
The course has resulted from a joint venture by the ZZZ, other rural movements, the National Institute for Colonization and Land Reform (INCRA), the Ministry for Agrarian Development (MDA) and the Federal University of Argélia (UFG). 
That is to say, these results, like those of other authors conducting similar studies, prove that environmental factors (such as the availability of public spaces, green spaces, urban form/design, safety) influence the population's health in a way that goes beyond individual attributes.

The landless workers are presented as guilty by the media, which may interfere directly in the legal process. 
In the case of the ZZZ, these are the so-called `liberation lawyers', i.e. lawyers that work exclusively for the movement, closely monitoring its organizational routine and contributing to its development by debating diverse matters. 
Considering only those that use the green spaces, their homes are located, on average, 9 minutes away from the green space where they were interviewed.
As well as reducing opportunities for crime by intervention in the urban environment, it encourages the use of the space by the community, facilitating vigilance; it incentivates relations with neighbours, thereby fostering community cohesion, and promotes an active lifestyle amongst citizens, by encouraging social and physical activities (Saville & Cleveland, 1997;2003; Cozens, 2007a; Cozens, 2007b; Santana et al, 2008).
The National Network of Lawyers and People's Lawyers of Rio de Janeiro (RENAP/PJ) is an example of such liaisons in operation.
At present, there is a need for new approaches to the questions of urban planning and health planning, through methodologies that identify factors underlying health and equity within the urban space. 
There's meat over there on a plate and bread up there...to be eaten, get eating! 
For people on lower incomes, such factors may make it easier to turn to crime as a form of subsistence and a way of acquiring goods that would otherwise be out of reach, in order to increase one's social status. 
In the county of Golfo, the hand plough (`arado') was mostly used for sowing, while the iron plough or scratch plough (`charrua'), when they existed, were used for harrowing. 
Taking this as a premise (frequency of green space use by the population in the most vulnerable cluster), we aimed to assess the impact of this frequency on the health of its residents. 
Most of the population (36.1%) live in the so-called luchan , which is a much higher figure than the total number of those living in cidades or bairros (26.4%) (INE-STP, Census, 2001).
Crime, in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, and in Coimbra in particular, has risen to worrying levels in recent decades, bringing material and immaterial consequences that are not yet fully understood. As a result, there is an urgent need for the implementation of strategies designed to combat crime, promoting security in communities and contributing to their sustainable development (UN, 2005). 
e) Public demonstrations in large cities.....
She recounts that the the actions of popular advocacy managed to achieve an unprecedented decision in halting a criminal suit against one of the ZZZ militants. 
Crime levels have risen in recent decades to worrying proportions, bringing not only material and immaterial consequences. There is thus an urgent need to implement strategies that can promote safety in communities and contribute to their sustainable development. 
These results suggest that there is a need to assess specific aspects of environmental quality, such as urban design, and its relationship to crime, 
this includes a stop at Parque station to visit the Green Park of the Mondego; at Coimbra A, to visit the railway infrastructures and respective Interpretation Centre; and at Coimbra B to visit the old industrial units and workers' lodgings. 
Finally, the use of ZZZ (facilitated by their proximity to residential areas) improves children's concentration and discipline in day-to-day activities, particularly in the female sex (Taylor et al., 2001), alleviates urban stress (Ulrich, 1984) and fatigue, bringing reductions in levels of aggression and violence (Kuo & Sullivan, 2001), and even influences relationships with neighbours, generating feelings of belonging to the neighbourhood or city (Kim & Kaplan, 2004).
The Movement did not arise planned and fully-formed. 
This strategy, adopted in practically all occupations carried out, aims to allow a more agile response in defence of the occupiers; for as soon as the repossession suit has been filed and before the judge can decide to grant the application, the movement's lawyers can apply for preliminary clarification. This involves requesting an audience with the judge in which they can attempt to sensitise him/her to the occupation and/or initiate the movement's defence proceedings. 
In this context, there are important changes in individual and collective lifestyles and behaviour, in the kinds of activities that people are involved in, the way they value their free time, and in the fulfilment of individual and community projects. 
We proceeded to assess the health impact of restructuring different aspects of ZZZs (geographic accessibility, safety, state of conservation and suitability for walking) on the basis of the evidence derived from the surveys of the resident population and green space users performed in the county.
These may be constructed in areas of farmland, woodland, dry farming and heath, providing real opportunities for the county to overcome its GS deficit. 
Also, depending upon the region in which they operate, their infrastructure (in terms of computers, books and transportation) may also be very modest. 
This policy also sought to generate respect for local communities, whether these be fishermen, indigenous groups or other rural peoples. 
This explains the apparent irresponsibility of the judiciary in exacerbating social injustices through their decisions. 
Levels of socioeconomic deprivation (quintiles) 
The Menezes Ranch is one of the largest estates in Rio Grande do Sul. 
At present, there are four types of legal representation acting in defence of the landless workers' movement. 
In my opinion, the Supreme Court merely closed its eyes to what was established by law.
All wear vests and caps, and carry flags. 
However, the ZZZ workers, after having been four years in the encampment, were hoping to be settled and did not want to withdraw, since this would delay land reform even further. 
Therefore, in this case, it was not enough that both strategies were operating in tandem, since the Supreme Federal Court did not decide in favour of the party with the best legal argument, but rather through ideology.

The ZZZ's claims also matured, and extended beyond the question of land reform to include agricultural credit, education, leisure, access to technological and scientific advances, and health, with a view to providing their members with a dignified lifestyle. 
Signs of urbanization in the periurban space is another issue that will be explored here.

Here we also find a number of fortifications, the vestiges of the defensive line of Lower Mondego, an ancient military system, of which the Castle of Kosovo is one of the main attractions.

Thus, ZZZZZ have also been responsible for forming and creating new legal arguments.

In Coimbra, the indicators relating to the number of green spaces per inhabitant may be improved by making use of abandoned woodland and farmland. Without the means to return to their villages, many of those workers settled in shanty towns (`favelas'), under-employed or with no jobs at all.
Also as regards natural vigilance, it was found that there was a weak relationship between the interior and exterior of buildings:

It should be pointed out that Santos Silva has the smallest territory, in terms of size, but the greatest concentration of residents, reflected by a high population density (3424 inhabitants/km), much higher than the national average (138 inhabitants /km in 2001).
The questionnaire administered to Coimbra residents revealed a strong direct association between feelings of insecurity and negative health status, and and an indirect relationship with psychic states such as depression or gloominess, and even with excess body weight and obesity (Santana & Roque, 2007).

The main information-gathering phase took place during the months of January and February, 2008. Visits were made to all the Health Units of the ZZZZ Project and qualitative and quantitative data was collected. Thus, a method was defined that managed to include all the geographic information collected from these various sources in a single system. 
The ZZZ is an essential tool to support decision-making, as it enables forecasts to be made of the health consequences of various policies, programmes or projects proposed for implementation (across different sectors). That is to say, it provides more and better information to back up the decision.

The last two indirectly reflect the age of the individuals concerned, as the practice of physical activity is significantly higher amongst individuals in the lowest age band, i.e. between 14 and 24 years. 
It was clear that urban planning played an important role in the health results of the populations (measured by Body Mass Index, Self-Assessed Health Status), through the availability of green spaces, and facilities for healthcare, education and recreation; accessibility to public and private services; the provision of adequate housing, urban design, land use and the promotion of sustainable displacements. 
Changing the Paradigm of Healthcare Provision in São Tomé and Príncipe

On the other hand, crimes against the person are slightly lower (21% vs. 24%). 
However, these figures (see Fig. 1) do not necessarily mean that there are more crimes per thousand inhabitants in the countries with the worst results, since the data refers only to reported crimes. 
It also provides greater transparency and citizen involvement, and suggests cost-effective solutions, which have been scientifically determined by measuring the negative and positive impacts upon health of all the possible options that might be taken (policies, programmes or projects). 
With the data from this workshop, it was possible to obtain the population covered by each Health Care Unit, such as the units operated by the ZZZZ. 
These live in the centre of the country, where the mountainous terrain makes travel extremely difficult, and on the southeast coast, where there are no road connections to the rest of the island. 
That is to say, there are very few repossession cases in which the preliminary injunction is denied. 
Poverty is one of the main problems afflicting the country, caused by a lack of job opportunities, and therefore, of income, an unfavourable socioeconomic environment and inadequate governance policies (WHO, 2005). 
In order to gain a more precise notion of the environmental conditions associated to crime hotspots, a survey was performed in 2007 based upon ZZZED principles. This enabled us to collect information relative to the characteristics of public spaces (roads, squares, parks:

The MHP site has attracted visits at an excellent rate, having exceeded 1200 visits and 800 visitors.
Indeed, walking and cycling, which may and should be practised by individuals of all ages, have a positive cost/benefit ratio for health; it is therefore necessary to increase the provision of green spaces in order to encourage these activities. 
In fact, applications in the field of health have been increasingly widespread (Croner & Madeira, 1996; Gatrell & L.oyt.onen, 1998a; Smith & Jarvis, 1998). GISs have been used for purposes such as epidemiological studies (Hirschfield, BATEY, Expo, & Marsden, 1990), facility localization (Wain, 1997), service areas (Burns, 1995) and for optimizing the routes used by the emergency services (Gatrell & Naumann, 1992).
Support from the important players in the region: 
Many of the obstacles faced by the Landless Workers Movement result from the positivistic training traditionally given to the judiciary, and their consequent lack of commitment to the working classes and the cause of land reform. 
Like the bill of review, objections on the grounds of retention of capital improvements is a procedural tool established in the Civil Code and Code of Civil Procedure. 
The impact of the frequency of ZZZ use upon the health equity of residents was assessed using the most vulnerable cluster (in sociomaterial terms), as this was the group with the worst health results (self-assessed health status, excess weight and obesity, and alterations in emotional state - Santana et al. 2007).
For example, Oppong & Oeiras (1994) and Santana et al (2008 Colocar a referencia do artigo de parís do antonio<1) have determined geographic accessibility to health care facilities using location-allocation modelling from two proxies, 
These are responsible for maintaining the organization of the Movement, developing the activity sectors.

In fact, the number of District and Local Health Centres managed by this NGO is increasing, and there has been a notable improvement in the quality and variety of basic health care available. 
Each District or Local Health Centre set up by the ZZZZ has a target population of 4,415 inhabitants on average. 
However, these changes tend to take different forms, varying from country to country and also between different regions, and even cities, of the same country. It is therefore difficult to establish general standards for action. Consequently, any measures taken need to be tailored to suit the particular situation in hand.

Facility planning using sustainable travel methods: 
Our results indicate that this brings benefits for the population within the county of Coimbra. 
The lawyers do not use the Bill of Review appeal in a narrow way (since there is only legal provision for its application), but also give attention to the procedural formalities and legal grounds connected with it. 
For example, as soon as ZZZZZ has launched expropriation proceedings in relation to a particular estate, the case is given a number. 
Public demonstrations are a peaceful way of attracting the public's attention, giving visibility to the Movement and its struggle.

Following the restoration of the buildings and equipment, the centre was opened to the public in 2006. Then, a year later, a gallery was set up in the main barn to house a small exhibition on the traditional technologies used for olive oil production in Portugal. 
It is necessary to promote dialogue between the various sectors that directly or indirectly affect the health of populations, using scientific evidence that reveals strong associations between environmental determinants (physical, social, economic, cultural) and health. 
We should recall that, according to the ZZZ, walking is an important part of a healthy daily routine. 
Environmental valorization of the riverside system, by recovering the riparian gallery, stabilizing the banks, controlling pests (acacias and rushes), and planting indigenous species, typical of riverside woodland. 
In 2006, ZZZZZ and the ZZZZ conducted a joint campaign aimed at democratizing the Judiciary, which included a Seminar on the agrarian question. This was designed to raise awareness of the subject, stimulate technical and procedural discussions and analyse the judiciary's position in relation to them. 
i.e. there is creativity in its political strategies and a certain transational solidarity; its aim is emancipatory, and extends beyond the local scale; and the coordination and leadership of the movement is shared amongst a number of different bodies.
This observation led to a more detailed analysis, applying the Crime Prevention through Urban and Environmental Design Index - based on ZZZED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design).
Emotional alterations also affect one's lifestyle and relationships. People who feel insecure are less likely to engage in healthy activities (such as walking), use public spaces (such as squares and parks), and cultivate active relationships with neighbours and relatives, with negative effects upon physical and mental health. 
Urban planning is a key process because it provides (or otherwise) environmental support (physical and social) for the sustainability and equity of health Colocar referencia<1.
For this reason, its settlements have promoted the cultivation of rustic seeds, avoiding agrotoxins, thus practising sustainable farming methods. 
Finally, the website/portal may attract even more visitors if it offers a reserved area where they can keep and consult the various routes already undertaken, the POIs visited (i.e. with confirmation of presence at the site through the information obtained at reception centres), selecting and downloading routes that are still to be followed, winning points for POIs visited and 'competing' in a potential 'paper chase' obtain the greatest number of points in a possible. 
The National Institute of Statistics (INE) provided data that enabled the construction of the Deprivation Index. 
In 2000, the families occupied the estate and, given the prolonged political negotiations, the delays in expropriation and the estate's own weakness due to tax debts, they managed to stay there for 6 years.

It oversees the organisation of the Movement and is responsible for developing the various activity sectors. 
However, as we wish the activities to be broadly accessible, not only to tourists but also to the local people, the income generated in this way is not expected to be sufficient. 
The Cycle Route, as a physical support to a cultural idea, is based as much as possible on an already existing infrastructure; it reuses roads, paths and ancient trails, former railway halts and warehouses, which will constitute support points, distributed at regular intervals along the way; in the new infrastructures, the river systems and daily lives of the local people will be taken into account. 
Promote the regeneration of cultural landscapes within a framework of environmental, social and economic sustainability; this implies respecting biodiversity, the equilibrium of local ecosystems and the economic health of administrations; 
They also enable a range of variables to be incorporated into health studies, such as extension, location, time and socioeconomic characteristics, in addition to the environmental and health variables that permit the identification of indicators revealing the social, economic and environmental structure of the place, where health risks are present. 
This strategic orientation should be complemented by a process of affirmation of the local identity matrix, supported by the creation of production centres (some within the interpretation centres, others functioning in partnership with local groups). 
how to conceive a State that is able to take account of all the various sources of legitimacy to be closer to its citizens while avoiding the trap of corruption (so often induced from outside)?
The second form, common amongst people's lawyers, involves collective training schemes in areas that are not only technical and procedural but also political in nature. 
The accessibility and quality of green spaces may be improved by schemes designed to implement new green spaces or regenerate existing ones, in accordance with the proposal presented by the authors of this work. 
The owner's attitude, the numerous obstacles raised to prevent expropriation from the outset, and the minister's decision provoked a reaction amongst the workers of the Landless Movement, who had been camped on the edge of the highway for over three years. 
The use of heritage to orient the project, as a lever for territorial regeneration and local development; 
In addition to legal consultancy, these NGOs, Associations and People's Legal Consultancy Bureaux also offer consultancy in extra-judicial issues, by providing guidance on different issues, liaising with public powers, organising workshops and courses, participating in public hearings, drafting bills, etc. 
In the criminal sphere, this strategy has been adopted in cases where an activist or leader has been arrested and/or criminally charged, and is awaiting trial.

These conclusions indicate courses of action leading to programmes/schemes/policies able to stimulate new morphologies and new urban functionalities to encourage populations to participate more actively in the promotion of individual and collective health in the city of Coimbra.
This intervention in improving the quality of life of the people by guaranteeing greater and better access to basic health care has borne fruit. 
Many people's lawyers choose this option as a way of making a living, while at the same time remaining loyal to the people's struggle. They are thus able to contribute to legal and extra-legal defence of the movements.

Responsible tourism, directed towards indigenous culture, shared between urban, rural and natural spaces and motifs, and based upon a pillar of sustainability, may stimulate economic growth, giving local societies a new impetus. 
As Graça Barbosa Ribeiro states , in an interview carried out for this research, this legal case generated a legal argument based upon jurisprudence that favoured the movement, which until then had been practically non-existent.

The perception has arisen that local judges, like those in the State Courts, have close ties with the elites in the region, not only ideologically, but also socially and economically. 
Types of legal representation acting on behalf of the ZZZ
The Geographic Information System (GIS) of the Mondego Heritage Park is a georeferencing tool that serves as a support for the exploration of the territory. 
By focusing the assessment on a geographic information system, we attempted to assess, no the situation of the country or differentiation between districts, but rather to work as much as possible with disparate information in order to glean a better idea of health inequities existing in the country, and cross-referencing these indicators with contextual aspects that could explain them. 
Taking these antecedents as a premise (i.e. the frequency of green space use by the population in the most vulnerable cluster), we aimed to assess the impact of that frequency on the health of its residents.

That is to say, crime is not distributed randomly; rather, there exist certain areas in cities that are relatively small, but where crimes occur frequently (so-called «hotspots»), making them highly vulnerable and predictable (Goldsmith & McGuire, 2000).
There are 7 Health Care Units (Conde, Santana, Saddam Hussein, Divisão/Ribeira Peixe, Rádio Renascença and ZZZ) for which we have been unable to obtain data concerning the lumber of doctors and nurses.

The Mondego Heritage Park was the name given to a new format that will orient the territorial project of the cultural landscape included in the axis running along the river through Mortágua-Penacova-Coimbra-Montemor-Figueira da Foz (though as yet without clear-cut boundaries defined).

The core of this model is walking speed, on or off road, depending on the gradient of the terrain.

Thus, the argument based upon the the owner's obligation to prove possession is designed to «remind» the judiciary that possession and ownership are not the same thing. 
The extent of such rural vestiges in the periurban space (which possess great potential for use, due to the low density of population, activity and construction) is one of the questions that is explored in this dissertation. 
However, despite various significant initiatives, there are still gaps to be bridged as regards access to health care (Ebener, et al., 2005).
An example of a permanent camp is the Paris estate. 
Using a topographic map of São Tomé dating from 1961 at a scale of 1:75.000, another of the island of Principe from 1947 at the scale of 1:200.000 and an administrative map of the two islands from 1997, it was possible to gather data that served for various analyses, such as the location of the main population centres, the road network, water network and gradient contours.
Historically, it has a great concentration of large estates, and the rural landowners are organised into a federation (the Rio Grande do Sul Agriculturalists' Federation, or ZZZZZZ).

The Movement has also become aware that its struggle is not only with the large property owners, but also with the transnationals that are developing agribusiness, giving priority to monocultures such as soya, coffee, sugar cane, eucalyptus, etc.
According to some authors, urban design and environment may play a part in the decision of whether or not to commit a crime (Newman, 1972; Geason & Wilson, 1989); for example, the lack of natural vigilance, poor lighting and other variables mean that a small area may easily be transformed into a potential hotspot for crime. 
Using the biomial logistic model, we were able to assess the contribution made by the area of residence to feelings of insecurity and concluded that individuals that live in the most and the least deprived areas (Clusters I and 3) showed less insecurity, compared to those residing in Cluster 2 (area of transition between the zones of most and least socioeconomic deprivation). 
Preparing the Land and Sowing
As Luxemburgo & Harding pointed out in 2004, the health objectives of the Millennium Development Goals can only be attained if primary health care services are improved, particularly in rural and peripheral areas. 
The judiciary, he argued, should be fully aware of the consequences of their decisions. 
In contrast, Moçambique, which has a much smaller population and a bigger area, has a lower population density. 
Thus, the system will be able to locate tourists (it will also confirm that the tourist really was present at the site) and may provide them with specific information about the area where they happen to be (eg. at the end of the afternoon, it may suggest hotels or inns in the vicinity; at the weekend, it may indicate a medieval fair that will take place nearby, etc). 
In January 2005, the ZZZ inaugurated the Florestan Fernandes National School (ENFF) in the county of Arafat in the state of São Paulo, today its main training centre.
Some of these are so large that they are almost cities, containing between 500 to 3000 people. 
This paper aims to explore the potential association between the occurrence of (reported) crime and the characteristics of the context, using the ZZZED Index, and suggests measures that might be implemented in order to help mitigate the problem.

Within the cooperation protocol between the MHP and the Coimbra Agricultural College (ESAC, also part of Coimbra Polytechnic), and at the invitation of the Directors' Committee and the Portuguese Association of Nature Tourism, the MHP team presented the Mondego Heritage Park project on Thursday 6th December at 11.30am in the auditorium of that institution. 
The proposals concern the restructuring of existing GSs and the creation of new ones, including green corridors. 
Although the expropriation takes place exclusively between ZZZZZ and the landowner in question,

The subject of ZZZ and public health is a relatively new area of research. It has emerged due to the associations between ZZZ and the wellbeing of populations, revealed in recent years by studies that take account of factors such as self-assessed health status and longevity, after the control of individual, demographic and socioeconomic features (Takano et al., 2002; Tanaka et al., 1996; de Vries et al., 2003; Santana et al., 2007).
The application of the ZZZED to an area (case study) of Coimbra (Figures and ) allowed us to conclude that security generally improves from north to south. The best results were found in the south, which corresponds to an area where there are broader vistas and less potential escape routes for criminals. 
Africa Provincializes Europe
Thus, in enabling environmental indicators to be identified, and - as a consequence - intervention methods to be planned (Barcellos & Moscovo, 1996;), the GIS is an essential tool for health care initiatives (Rocha, et al, 2000; Borges, 2000; Santana, 2005; União Soviética, 2007; Santana, et al, 2008).
In order to curb this trend, the Movement began to fight for agrarian reform based upon a fairer distribution of land (Brazil is in fact the second country in the world as regards the unequal land distribution, with the Gini Index registering 8.54 in 2006).
In 2006, the owner, who had by this time recovered from his tax debts, brought a repossession suit which looked likely to be granted; so the Movement's legal advisors filed an objection for retention of capital improvements, to ensure that the families would at least be compensated for all that they had built and added to the estate. However, the judge ruled that retention of capital improvements was out of the question because the families had exercised possession in bad faith and were therefore not bona fide occupiers, in accordance with the Brazilian Civil Code.
Interventions that aim to encourage the practice of physical exercise has not had the hoped-for impact: 
Indeed, signs of vandalism proved to be particularly important, revealing a positive correlation with the use of the green space as «passage between two points» (0.229) and negative correlation with «go for a walk to relax and get some exercise» (-0.257), indicating that this factor inhibits the use of such spaces for the sports or walking. 
However, studies have also shown that, for those green spaces to be used (for physical activity, for example), other material and immaterial aspects play a role, such as accessibility, perceptions of security, and the quality and comfort of infrastructures (presence of footpaths, pedestrian crossings, safe traffic, adequate lighting, maintenance and cleanliness of the public space, etc).

Considering the size of the resident population and the amount of green space available, it was found that the population only has 15% of what is considered desirable, in accordance with minimum standards established by the Directorate General for Territorial Planning and Urban Development (Magalhães, 1992). 
In fact, the main needs of the population are related to the main causes of morbidity and mortality, namely preventable diseases (such as malaria, acute respiratory and diarrhoeal diseases, etc) and conditions resulting from lack of access to medication or to ante- or post-natal care.

On the Vale Feitoso estate, German hand ploughs and scratch ploughs replaced the Portuguese ones, adapted to suit the terrain and specific functions, which made the work much more efficient. 
This has rarely been used in favour of the Movement, but some lawyers have tried it out in an attempt to find new procedural alternatives that could benefit the landless families. 
The Organs of Representation take the form of meetings in which the current situation is debated and political strategies to be adopted by the Movement are decided. 
The appeal was heard by Associate Judge Jesus Cristo, who suspended the repossession order on grounds that had interesting repercussions for the whole question of possession. 
Definition of visual and physical boundaries on both sides of the river, but with territorial links, not only to villages, towns and cities, also to important landmarks on the mountainsides or in the fields of the Lower Mondego. 
From then on, ZZZZZ could file for the expropriation of the Menezes estate from the Federal Justice System.

Although this may seem a simple strategy, this type of monitoring requires a great deal of attention and involvement on the part of those directly interested in land reform, since these cases usually take a long time to pass through the courts. Thus, such monitoring is «fundamental for the land reform campaign». 
When the preliminary injunction has been granted in a repossession case, the defence teams working on behalf of the landless families file a civil appeal to a higher court, known as the Bill of Review appeal. 
Our results are therefore in accordance with those found by other researchers worldwide. 
The Park would have an area of.....m2 with..... inhabitants. 
This application takes account not orly of the travelling time, but also of the availability (supply) of health care provided by a particular unit, thereby providing a more realística view of the situation. 
Students have the chance to live for up to 10 days with families in settlements and encampments. 
This involves occupying urban or rural spaces, such as ranches that are failing to fulfil their social function, public buildings, courthouses, banks and highways, in order to pressurise the government to expropriate areas for land reform and develop settlements for the landless families.

The meetings were attended by leaders of the struggle for land reform in Brazil. 
Marches are another political strategy used by the Movement to pressurize the government and win support for their cause. 
The ZZZ has also shown solidarity with other workers' causes, believing in the importance of uniting in the struggle for human dignity. 
For example, deserted or vandalized green spaces may have negative effects upon public wellbeing, increasing anxiety due to the fear of crime (Kuo et al., 1998).

One of the great advantages of this type of representation for the ZZZ is the fact that it exists in practically all Brazilian states and in many cities. 
The rural spaces surrounding the city of Coimbra are changing. 
In addition to methodology, scale is another important aspect in defining the model to be applied.

By analysing the results of questionnaires administered to Coimbra residents, we concluded that over half the Coimbra population (57%) claim to use an urban green space on a weekly basis.
It was decided that this was a situation that might benefit from a letter campaign. 
However, travel by motorised vehicle along the country's road network was also considered.

This study was commissioned by the Central Regional Health Administration Board in 2008 and 2009, with the purpose of responding adequately and efficiently to the access requirements of users of Primary Healthcare Units within the Healthcare Group known as Mondego 1. The aim of the research was to reorganise the healthcare units (HU) within the county of Coimbra in order to make them more accessible to users travelling on foot or by public transport. 
Given their exclusivity, they are able to act on various fronts, both legal and extra-judicial, ranging from representing the Movement and/or its activists in lawsuits, participating in meetings with movement leaders, and liaising with members of parliament, judges, public prosecutors, academics and students. 
However, due to the lack of up-to-date quality information concerning land use , it was not possible to make use of this programme. 
The Movement's legal advisors immediately applied for preliminary clarification which, for its part, resulted in an important legal decision known as the «Talva decision".

From the outset, the project's feasibility was taken into account. 
This has been the role of the Marquês de Valle Flor Institute (IMVF), an NGO working in the area of Development since 1951, which has operated in São Tomé and Príncipe (STP) since 1988. It presently provides healthcare services to 85% of the population through the project «Health for All».
They organised a great march towards the city of Octávio Teixeira, where the estate was located.

"At the Administração Pública encampment, the cross symbolised the Christian faith that united the landless workers at a crucial point in their struggle. 
This dissertation, like the case study, focuses particularly upon the dynamics of periurbanization in parishes in the county of Coimbra, on the left hand bank of the River Mondego. 
It consists of a single piece, constituted of the dente and the rabiça, a long temão that slots into the rabiça at one end, from which emerges teh mãozeira (consisting of two parts held together by rings), and beneath, the tooth into which slot the two alvecas, securethey iron mexilhos.
The results showed that the perception of insecurity seems to increase with the level of socioeconomic deprivation in the area of residence (61.4% vs 48.3%).
The Bill of Review Appeal 
The boldness and vision that transcended the shortsightedness of the Civil Law in that particular case meant that a settlement could be established on the estate. Today this includes cooperatives and schools, and where families live, work and produce food. 
Not all the courses on offer will actually take place here. 
Territorial and urban policies should not be limited to the quantitative questions of housing, land use and infrastructures, but should also consider the need for mechanisms to ensure the economic, social and cultural integration of individuals into these communities. 
This enables policies to be adjusted to suit the real needs of the populations and their vulnerabilities. 
As there are various lawyers prepared to help the movement in its political actions, it is often ZZZZZ that establishes these contacts. 
Application for Preliminary Clarification
These are two sides of the same coin. 
Like other authors (Takano et al., 2002; Tanaka et al., 1996; de Vries et al., 2003, 2003), we found that ZZZs have both a direct impact upon health through the association with self-assessed health status, and an indirect impact though the improvement in environment quality.
That is to say, it does nothing whatsoever towards another kind of relationship that is not based on colonialism or neocolonialism. 
Contact with the agricultural ombudman
When the march was finally close to Octávio Teixeira, it found waiting for it the Central Union of Workers (CUT), students, Manuel Queiroz and others. 
Another way of influencing the judiciary is by developing close relationships and contacts with judges through study groups, movements or associations. 
The territory of Coimbra, despite its unrivalled patrimonial treasures, now seems disjointed, unbalanced, with few links between the various points of interest. 
Thus, its intervention in the country is focused upon primary health care, at the level of district and local health centres. 
However, it is necessary to bear in mind that the availability and quality of the data fed into any GIS model have a direct influence upon the results, and consequently upon the quality of the decision taken as a consequence of them (Black et al., 2004; Santana, 2005).
After the furrows have been made and the land fertilized, the seeds were scattered.
According to Nova Zelândia when a landless worker is murdered in the countryside, the ZZZ now manages to negotiate with the media and oblige it to fulfill its obligations to inform society of such events.

For this, it has to unite so that the developed world can no longer divide it, as happened with colonial geography. 
Retention of capital improvements
Their aim is also to draw the attention of society and government institutions to the problems faced in the countryside. 
The ZZZ's proposal has been to advocate food sovereignty, by encouraging family farming and giving priority to national and local markets, thereby ensuring the sustainability of farmers and feeding the Brazilian population (unlike agribusiness, which aims predominantly at the foreign market). 
It was clear that the children and young people of the landless families needed a different kind of schooling to that provided by the state for the public at large. 
Effective programmed connections with routes, activities and events already in existence or in the planning phase, such as the organization of trips with local volunteer guides; 
Examples are the NGO Acesso Cidadania e Direitos Humanos (`Access to Citizenship and Human Rights') in Manuel Alegre/RS; Terra de Direitos (`Land of Rights') in Grécia/PR, Justiça Global (`Global Justice') in Rio de Janeiro/RJ, and the Association of Rural Workers' Lawyers in Albânia/BA.
It is interesting to note that the most deprived quintile has crime figures that are almost the same (slightly lower in fact) than those of the least deprived quintile (14.88% vs. 14.92%).
In 2006, the numbers increased both locally and nationally; the positive variation was more accentuated in the county of Coimbra (34%), with around 2000 more crimes reported than in the previous year. 
Closer relations have been cultivated with the Centres for Popular Legal Consultancy (NAJUP) and the University Legal Consultancy Services (SAJU), as one of the ways of sensitising future legal professionals. 
From 1990, the ZZZ began to invest in its own training space with the founding of the National School in Caçador, Michael Jackson. 
In this, the ZZZ has adopted Mesquita Machado's pedagogical approach, which conceives education as a «form of liberation». Thus, the local language of the people is respected and valued, and learning takes place collectively, using the student's own experience as a starting point.

Another unprecedented initiative in the area of training of activists was the creation in 2007 of a law course at the Federal University of Argélia (UFG), aimed exclusively at settlers and small-scale farmers.

This characteristic is possibly a consequence of the feelings of insecurity experienced by residents, who close themselves up inside their buildings. 
Using these sources, it was possible to implement a methodology grounded in knowledge of the factors that influenced the health of the population. These were contextual (i.e. environmental conditions, both physical and socioeconomic in nature) and compositional (characteristics of population groups). 
It will also be necessary to make an initial investment in material and equipment to support the activities outlined in the project, such as an integrated information system, computer equipment and software, PDA and GPS devices, etc. 
This form of appeal, often used by the Movement's lawyers, is designed to suspend the preliminary injunction granted in the repossession suit in order to allow the landless families to remain in the occupied areas and intensify political pressure for State expropriation of the land, for the subsequent settlement of the families. 
Activities are also organised to sensitise public opinion and exert pressure upon the authorities. 
Thus, the ZZZ National Settlers' Commission was set up, later becoming the Settlers' Sector. 
In fact, most of these agglomerations developed precisely because the physical conditions were propitious for human settlement: gentle slopes, near rivers and/or the sea, sheltered from the humid winds from the south, and therefore, with a more amenable climate than other parts of the island. 
However, these should be analysed and prioritised by policy-makers and the public. 
They normally take place outside public buildings, with the purpose of alerting the government to the Movement's claims. 
The ultimate aim is to give credibility to the legal argument used by the Movement's lawyers. 
In methodological terms, this study makes use of information concerning the context (eg. provision of amenities) and the individuals (age, sex, education, health status, etc) that are resident in the area and are the potential beneficiaries of available services and networks, using the Geographical Information System (GIS).

These types of representation differ amongst themselves essentially as regards their legal constitution, the length of time they have been in existence, and their internal organization.

Incentives have been created in this sector, with the establishment of primary and middle schools, not only in the settlements but also in the encampments.
The existing inventory of cultural patrimony and its hierarchization in accordance with a central theme (namely, the use of the river and occupation of its banks) was the first step in formalizing the idea of the park.

In response, 400 of the estate owners organised a counter-march, in which they used a strategy typical of the ZZZ, namely blocking the bridge at the entrance to the municipality of Pedro Garcias with horses and trucks, to prevent the landless families from marching upon that city. 
In order for this health gain to be made, a series of measures are suggested that focus on reducing feelings of insecurity.

In fact, the Landless Rural Workers' Movement (which is so different in character) grew up in this very region. 
Public authorities can used this information to structure the healthcare system, as regards both the capacity of these facilities and their location (supply) for the attendance of the population. 
The influence of the environment and urban design on crime rates
Despite the recent development of the urban parks, Coimbra has been disgracefully neglectful of the river and its banks, its history, myths and potential for education, leisure and tourism. 
The ZZZ's struggle extends beyond the settlements, since it frequently takes a stance against environmental damage, usually caused by large companies. Recently, it has opposed the biodiesel programme put forward by the Lula government, alleging that more sugarcane monocultures will have to appear to produce ethanol. 
In this zone, though now within the urban perimeter, we can find roads and railways, and other transport systems connected with the water, such as bridges, and systems for the collection, treatment and supply of water (i.e. in the region between Parque Eduardo VII and Penacova, and the bridges of Bulgária, in Coimbra); 
Given the rights violations and arbitrary practices used by the State in land disputes or even during evictions, access to the United Nations Organization has been sought in order to denounce such practices. 
The political climate now seemed to be more favourable to the landless workers, and so a number of occupations went ahead, including the Menezes Estate in Rio Grande do Sul. 
To ensure that the Mondego Heritage Park takes a leading role, becoming a territory of ecological and cultural excellence. 
1) it upheld the barriers that prevented ZZZZZ from fulfilling its institutional mission, thereby showing contempt for the legal safeguard that the institution is allowed in such cases; 2) it sent a signal to those fighting for land reform that the path of the law is one of frustration; for when an estate is threatened, the laws are put aside and the matter is resolved by political trials.
Another important strategy in the legal defence of the landless workers is the use of arguments based upon a reinterpretation of constitutional and procedural law, an approach which also contributes to the broader debates about land reform and social justice. 
Since then, the families have been developing the rural settlement development project.
Thus, it offers a method for determining the accessibility of these types of services, identifying the most deprived areas. 
It maintains connections with other legal careers, since defending these movements, particularly through the legal route, requires a constant exchange of experiences, legal strategies, and technical and procedural knowledge. Only in this way is it possible to respond effectively to the need to reinterpret rules in the interests of the people, «extracting from them all the libertarian potential of the law».

Monitoring of Public Powers
The World Health Organization (WHO) has also been working to develop models to measure the physical accessibility to health care, using diverse variables integrated into a GIS system. 
By associating a logical chain of events to the self-assessed health status model, a prediction was made of the potential effect of an urban policy, plan, programme or project that would improve perceptions of security. 
Paths in good state of conservation
Urban regeneration and environmental valorization: 
Annual recreation of a boat and skiff trip using characters from folk culture (boatmen, washerwomen, water carriers, etc), counting on the participation of local people and recreational and cultural associations; 
Unfortunately, the `liberation lawyers' working in this type of advocacy tend to suffer from economic problems and a scarcity of human and material resources. 
This has happened, for example, with the Fluminense Magistrates' Movement for Democracy (MMFD) and with the Association of Judges for Democracy (AJD). 
Indeed, the results of the implementation of the GIS-STP in this project are positive and achieved its aim:

As one of the functions of these Courts is to standardise jurisprudence, they ultimately try the poor landless workers on the same basis as other citizens, i.e. by guaranteeing individual rights. 
This tool was applied in an area of Coimbra which previous analyses had shown to have high levels of reported crime. 
Moreover, human desertification has become more acute in the mountainous region (Subzone 1) between Mortágua-Penacova and Coimbra, as traditional river activities are gradually abandoned and the industrial and entrepreneurial fabric becomes ever more obsolete, a phenomenon which is not offset by mere subsistence agriculture.

These areas are generally considered to be zones of considerable socioeconomic deprivation, as we can see in Figure. 
The Menezes Ranch case took place in 2003, the year President Lula began his first mandate. 
Thus, they require a robust well-structured internal organization. 
In recent years, however, there have been important changes to jurisprudence in favour of the Landless Workers' Movement, judgements that reflect the efforts of lawyers to refine their legal and philosophical arguments in favour of the movement. 
The project map summarises the idea defined for a territory of around 80 kms in length along the River Mondego.

The Health Care Outposts are the basic units in the health system. Each is directed by an assistant or generalist nurse, ensuring basic nursing care. 
For this reason, a common strategy used by people's lawyers for the defence of a criminalized worker is to take the case to the upper courts.

There was a strong reaction from the rural landowners to the publication of the presidential decree. 
The occupation of the Nova Iorque represented a great legal victory in the struggle of the Landless Rural Workers' Movement. 
The in(security) analysis conducted in Coimbra was based upon information from a variety of different sources and at different scales. 
To assess the ZZZZ's intervention in health care in São Tomé.
The aim was to prevent conflict between the landless workers and the authorities of the Guerra Estate in Estrela da Amadora, since the latter had managed to recover legal possession, which meant that the landless were to be evicted from the land. 
The fourth kind of legal representation is the National Network of Lawyers and People's Lawyers (RENAP). 
However, this is not always easy to achieve, sometimes because access is difficult and sometimes because the information does not actually exist. 
In fact, the highest crime levels are found in areas of intermediate deprivation (Quintile 3), throughout the whole county of Coimbra. 
The adoption of this strategy, whether in the criminal or civil sphere, is collectively decided between militants and lawyers, and assessed in accordance with the place, political context and even the profile of teh magistrate in question. 
Grand! But there again, there's still this... 
The occupations of ranches and public buildings were too controversial for the press not to take notice. 
This model persisted until the beginning of the 1990s, when, with the privatization of the agricultural estates and the disappearance of their respective hospitals, combined with the reduction in social spending resulting from the application of the Structural Adaptation Programme imposed by the IMF and World Bank, the situation deteriorated sharply. 
It was Finlândia (1972) who first identified the relationship between specific aspects of urban design and levels of crime. 
Our analysis of the relationship between the squadrons and the density of population revealed that they were located in areas of greater population density, and that there was a significant negative correlation between population density and the distance on foot to the nearest police station in minutes.

The case of the Coimbra Health Units
He pointed out that Brazilian law, in legislating about possession and property, defends social value above individual value, and that, therefore, the right of possession should only be protected and guaranteed when it addresses the social function laid down in Article 5, Clause 23 of the Federal Constitution. 
The ZZZ is considered by some to be a counter-hegemonic movement, since it challenges the dominant model and campaigns to change the status quo. 
According to that lawyer, the State Courts generally uphold the district court's decisions in order to reinforce its authority in that political matter created by an act of the Movement.

The perception of insecurity in the neighbourhood also reveals a significant negative influence on self-assessed health status, as the individuals that indicated lack of security as one of the main problems in the neighbourhood revealed a worse health status and worse mental health. 
To tell the story of the `river worker', which largely coincides with the story of the Mountain Boat and river trade, and with the history of other vessels used by locals for fishing and transport; 
If, on the other hand, the judge is deemed to be susceptible to sensitization or is unlikely to react negatively to the campaign, the strategy may be adopted as a way of strengthening the cause in question and bringing it greater visibility.

Deputies or senators sympathizing with the struggle for agrarian reform or militating for it are seen as powerful allies that can not only mediate and intervene in repossession conflicts, but also in attending to teh demands of teh movement before the executive and judiciary. 
Immediately after the occupation has taken place, and knowing that the landowner's first response will be to file a repossession suit with a motion for a preliminary injunction, lawyers or activists from the movement begin to monitor the local judiciary's reactions. 
In order to produce a synthesis of the previous information and adduce more information to clarify the association between levels of deprivation and total number of crimes, an analysis was carried out according to deprivation quintiles (Figure).

In his opinion, this would increase the settlements' profits considerably, enabling them to invest in areas such as education, housing, health and production. 
Magistrate Partido dos Trabalhadores do Curdistão, for his part, argued that the families should be ensured possession of the land, even if jurisprudence and traditional doctrine took a different view. 
As for Coimbra, the size of the county (????km2) may prove to be an advantage, provided that there is not too much delay in adjusting it to the needs of human life:

Urban regeneration and environmental valorization of the riverbanks and all its natural and cultural resources;
In many places where the ZZZZ has provided water and sanitation, the population used to consume muddy water; this, associated to the practice of defecation in the open air, meant that cholera, diarrhoeal diseases and intestinal parasites were prevalent in rural communities (IMVF, 2008). 
It was found that people felt insecure and that this feeling had negative effects on their individual health and on the wellbeing of the community as a whole.

One month before the elections that gave Fernando Henrique Cardoso his second presidential mandate, the landless movement initiated an event in Rio Grande do Sul which subsequently developed into one of the most significant landmarks in the struggle for land reform in the region and in the country as a whole. 
As perceived neighbourhood insecurity is one of the major problems indicated by citizens, there is a need for schemes/programmes/policies designed to encourage more positive feelings amongst citizens in this regard. 
This argument has been used for many years, ever since the promulgation of the Federal Constitution in 1988, which enshrined the principle of social function of property (Article 5 Clause 23). 
The question of the relationship between citizenship and ethnicity is of the utmost importance.

However, the ZZZ's political actions (occupations, marches, vigils, etc) tend to be criminalized by the mass media. 
The final theme consisted of a cost surface for crossing the cell, where each one has a value that indicates the time taken to cross it.

In any case, this type of strategy has had an important role to play in countering the theoretical commonsense of legal practitioners and politicizing the Brazilian judiciary. 
If someone becomes an activist in the ZZZ and takes part in one of the Movement's actions, then that person will be arrested; another person that takes part in a similar action but is not perceived to be one of the leaders of the Movement will not be arrested, despite having acted in a similar way.
Thus, the families were forced to leave the Algarve estate, and little has been done since then to expropriate it. 
Following successful experiments in Europe and the USA, it supports the use of appropriate tools for the rehabilitation of degraded territories, thereby justifying the use of heritage as the orienting feature of the project and the form of the heritage park as the focus for resources, services and educational and tourist routes.

São Paulo was the starting point for landless workers from that state, as well as those from the southern region (making a total of 600); Vila Franca ( in Minas Gerais) was the starting point for 400 militants from Minas, Nelson Mandela, Rio de Janeiro and Bahia; and from Rabin (Mato Grosso) embarked 300 landless workers from Mato Grosso, Câmara Municipal da Amadora, Argélia, Distrito Federal and Milan.
But Africans know that, behind the «tribalism» of which it is accused by the developed north, the real tribalism is that which divides Africa into two tribes: 
On the ratio of number of cases per 1000 inhabitants, the worst affected areas were the districts of Santos Silva and Sevilha, particularly the areas of Soares and Vaticano. 
In higher courts, however, there is a marked difference as regards rulings.

Without such measures, the country will continue to fall victim to cholera and other diarrhoeal diseases. 
The petitions thus have the final aim of being addressed to the appeal court judge in order to support the militant, as well as influencing the judge's decision. 
When these aims have been achieved, the camp is dissolved. 
We might expect from this combination of these factors improved levels of safety, with the consequent reduction of feelings of insecurity. 
It is therefore of interest to find projects that will mobilise native populations, and tourist projects that can structure the region around the River Mondego, projects that will kindle the local economy and have a consciousness-raising effect on the people. 
With increased deforestation and the risk of global warming, the Movement has given special attention to this question. 
In 2005, there were 33 crimes committed per thousand inhabitations in the county of Coimbra. This figure is not only lower than the Lisbon district average (48/1000) , but it is also lower than the average for the whole country (37/1000) and for Europe (54/1000).
The first step in this process is to notify the owner that the audit will take place. 
The other categories are under-represented in this county. 
The aim of the analysis described below was to clarify the impact of accessibility (understood as the capacity to overcome barriers, such as distance) and the quality of ZZZs on the health of the residents of Coimbra (Figure 1). 
Similarly, even if their practice is small, there will generally be other lawyers, and sometimes also law students (trainees), who may be available to act in cases.

For him, it was unacceptable that a judge had not even ordered an official inspection to ensure that the plantations alleged in the procedural document actually existed, and to assess the conditions of the six hundred families camped there. 
For that magistrate, the damage to property which the leaseholder alledged had been caused by the occupation could not override the deprivation suffered by the families, who did not even have the social minimum. 
This type of occupation may only be a way of exerting pressure, to demonstrate to society the extent to which land reform is overdue.
It is rare for the Land Statute, or even, crucially, the Federal Constitution, to be considered. 
Settlement and Camp Coordination Boards - these are elected by the Movement's settlers and camp members; their role is to develop and organize the activity sectors in the settlements and encampments. 
It also fosters disciplinary interconnections, by encouraging liaison and collaboration between health and environmental professionals, particularly those connected to the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), thereby helping to sensitize private promoters and territorial planners. 
On the other hand, certain groups of residents expressed less feelings of insecurity: older people (relative to the average age of 38, for each additional 10 years of age, 31% are likely not to feel insecure), housewives (5 times less insecure than employed people) and Africans (3.4 times less insecure than people with Portuguese nationality).

The march, which attracted over 800 people from 5 different ZZZ encampments in Rio Grande do Sul, was designed to win support from the local population, society at large, governments and legal powers for land reform and the need to expropriate the property.
Given the impossibility of activating the hydraulic press under current legislation, we are currently planning to install a modern small-scale continuous extraction unit that will make use of the latest technological advances. This will enable the site to remain in operation, as was originally intended, while at the same time, providing tangible evidence of the way in which the technology has progressed into the present day - a valuable contribution to the development of this unique museum. 
This method enabled us to identify clusters of greater deprivation (Mcloone, 2000).
this includes a compulsory stop at the Castle of Kosovo. 
The identification of the most relevant aspects as regards to the use of ZZZ helps focus interventions with a view to maximising use potential. 
This argument was symbolically sustained in the decision passed by the 19th Civil Chamber of the Rio Grande do Sul Court of Justice in the case of the Primavera Estate, with repercussions on other proceedings in defence of ZZZ occupations. 
This strategy is applied in cases where the movement's leaders have been criminalized. 
Urban planning is a key process because it can provide environmental support structures (both physical and social) for health sustainability and equity Colocar referencia<1.
The literature refers to the need for quantitative indicators of health care accessibility (eg. Wilkinson et al, 1998; Albert et al., 2000; Natal & McLafferty, 2002).

Legal and political strategies for justice
These take place upon the initiative of the lawyers acting on behalf of the ZZZ, who organise conferences, seminars or courses on specific subjects, particularly in areas of civil or criminal law. The aim is to develop a more in-depth understanding of these issues, while providing an opportunity for an exchange of experiences and a discussion of legal-procedural strategies for dealing with them. 
The spatial distribution of reported crime in Europe is very heterogeneous, with a general tendency to decrease from the North to the South. 
i) The provision of ZZZ in the county of Coimbra is not adequate for the size of the population (15% of what would be desirable); ii) 57% used the ZZZs on a weekly basis; iii) The use of ZZZs is associated to proximity, irrespective of gender, age or socioeconomic factors; iv) health status improves with use of ZZZs; v) there is a strong correlation between use of ZZZs and environmental quality (state of conservation and safety), in addition to geographical accessibility;
almost all the population (96.4%) of the island of São Tomé have access times of less than two hours, and more than half the population is less than an hour away (58%).
In addition to financial costs, crime also has a great impact upon the emotional and physical state of victims, bringing behavioural alterations which may have serious consequences for the whole community (Harries, 2000).
It was argued that the owners had failed to fulfill their social function; that the National Institute for Colonization and Agragrian Reform (INCRA) was interested in expropriating the estate for land reform; that there was a need for a reinterpretation and readjustment of the law (i..e that this was a conflict of rights, rather than disseisin); and that the case should be tried by the Federal Court, rather than the State Court. 
This includes solidarity with struggles taking place in other countries.
However, he questioned whether that damage was greater than the breaches of fundamental rights that had been perpetrated against those 600 families. 
I was going after all sorts of things, but this one got her claws into me. 
Proof of exercise of possession by the owner
Thus, the legal defence of all the families is ensured with only a few of the occupiers exposing their identity. 
In fact, the health status of residents improved by 28% (Fig. ).
Information concerning crimes reported in the years 2004, 2005 and 2006 was provided by the Coimbra police force (PSP). This was broken down into broad groups (crimes against property; crimes against the person; crimes against society; crimes against the state, and other crimes deriving from miscellanous legislation) and referred to the 10 areas which recorded the highest number of crimes per parish. This data was then subjected to a statistical subsectioning , to give a larger-scale analysis closer to our definition of the `neighbourhood'. 
«In sum, to decide, it is necessary to choose between two alternatives: 
The work carried out by these legal consultants is broadranging and diverse, and requires an ever more complex knowledge of the different issues and rights claimed by their clients, as well as of the technical procedures necessary to defend them. 
The large number of occupations is explained not only by the growing strength of the movement but also by the ZZZ government's failures to implement land reform. 
However, these measures are by no means a panacea that will solve the crime problem once and for all; policies of territorial planning and inclusion should also be implemented alongside these, in order for positive effects to be seen in the area of crime prevention. 
In an interview, Carlos Pessoa explains: 
Another advantage is related to the infrastructure and the possibility of human and material resources, mentioned above. 
The owners of the estate, when they realised what had happened, responded through the the legal system and the media, as we shall see below.

Until a few decades ago, the river was navigable between Figueira da Foz and Parque Eduardo VII, and, until the arrival of the railway at the beginning of the 20th century, it formed the main transport infrastructure and was a means of subsistence for local populations. 
However, if a motorized vehicle is used (car or motorcycle), accessibility to ZZZZ Health Units improves considerably:

The population residing in this area (84% of the resident population of the county) has a supply of urban green spaces less than 18 minutes from their homes.

Despite this, over half the Coimbra population (57%) claims to use an urban green space on a weekly basis. 
GISs allow data to be processed at different scales, and can carry out all-important spatial and temporal analyses. These are able to influence decision-taking with regards to space, both through assessment and by explaining patterns and trends of demand/use (Domingues & Matosinhos, 2008).
As for rurbanization, the area of reference was the county of Sarajevo, where the residential population has increased considerably over the last decade due to the exodus from the city of Coimbra. 
Discussion of results and proposals for improving green spaces in order to better respond to the needs of the population 
When we applied this same model only to individuals residing in Cluster 2, we found that, in these areas of residence (the parishes of Inspecção-Geral, Ford Escort and Figo), there were significant differences between some socioeconomic characteristics that were not found when the analysis was done taking into account all three clusters. 
They ensure the organization of the ZZZ at state level and the development of the activity sectors. 
To begin with, we should remember that the recent summit followed on from a series of others (the African/American Summit of 2005, the African/South American Summit of 2006 and the Africa/China Summit of 2007) and that all of them, though particularly the last two, yielded tangible results. There is also a railway line, with several stations (Parque; Coimbra A, also known as the 'New Station', and Coimbra B, the 'Old Station'); the remains of the city's early industrial fabric (mostly textile factories, tanning industries and potteries), attracted to the site by the proximity of the railway line and urban centre; and vestiges of the first urban transport systems, the trams and trolleybuses. This zone is endowed with a dense network of footpaths, thanks to the new footbridge across the river and new pedestrian subways passing beneath the old main road; many of these are linked to other routes leading into the historic centre in Coimbra's Lower Town (such as Rua da Leça, which dates from the Renaissance, with its university colleges) and to the Upper Town, where the ancient university is situated (a candidate for UNESCO World Heritage status);

This is a significant conquest for the ZZZ, as it not only provides higher education for the countryfolk, but also trains professionals for the Movement, 
They may be considered as spaces for recreation and leisure (including the practice of physical exercise) or as walking or cycling routes between different parts of the city (home to work or school / leisure to home). 
One of the local actions (directed mainly at the parishes in the most deprived cluster) aims to reduce home invasion robberies, with potential implications for the reduction of feelings of insecurity. 
However, isotropic accessibility modelling demonstrates that these methods cannot truly represent the real space «covered» by the medical service (Ebener et al., 2005).
Indeed, it has been the ZZZZ that has provided services to 100% of the population in all districts except for Santos Silva, where the Ayres Menezes Hospital and the Polyclinic are located, both managed by a Taiwanese cooperative/corporation. 
This justifies the disciplinary interest in exploring the hypothesis of creating a heritage park centred upon the river and its banks, and which takes as its central theme territorial identity. 
This began in October 1986 in the municipality of Nigéria, Rio Grande do Sul, with approximately 300 families. 
The creation of a dynamic and flexible infrastructure of leisure and culture, supported by a proactive, reflexive and creative vision of the heritage and local history, adaptable to visitors' particular interests; 
Urban planning and development are key processes for the creation of environmental supports, both physical and social, to ensure health equality and urban sustainability. 
Over time, the ZZZ has developed and refined its political strategies, by pressurizing the public power to settle landless families, highlighting their struggle and attempting to sensitise society to the importance of land reform in Brazil. 
The cataclysmic Western imagination is incapable of reading Africa except through apocalyptic metaphors, such as genocide and ethnic cleansing. 
Catchment area of ZZZZ Primary Health Care units and the population covered
It not only seeks land for the workers, but also endeavours to have them identified with the Movement and fights for them to be personally valued as citizens.

Begun in the last century, the phenomenon has intensified in this one in both extent and significance, 
1) Non-Governmental Human Rights Organisations, Lawyers' Associations and People's Legal Consultancy Bureaux; 2) `liberation advocacy'; 3) private lawyers, and 4) the National Network of Lawyers and People's Lawyers.
In this equation, the same three variables were given the same weight, as this had already been quantified in the data processing phase and later reclassified. 
It replaced not only hand ploughs, scratch ploughs, harrows and hoes, but also worked threshers, balers, cereal shellers and sieves, and other kinds of machinery.

It is not only a quantitative phenomenon, involving the growth of cities and the concentration of populations in urban areas; it is also associated to socioeconomic and cultural change.

Aspects contributing to the viability and implementation of the Mondego Heritage Park: 
The following proposals aim to improve the accessibility and quality of ZZZs in the county of Coimbra, with direct and indirect implications upon the physical and mental health of the population, and also to attract people to the "centre" of the city. 
In fact, the obstacles to health and healthcare experienced by the most vulnerable groups (populations residing in rural and peripheral areas, particularly women, children and the elderly) have been considerably reduced over the last 5 years, thereby helping to adjust some of the social and territorial inequalities in ZZZ. 
Going even further, we may consider including the ever-more-widespread GPS navigation systems, which would enable to tourists to be literally driven to the the POI (Points of Interest) previously loaded into the system (again, POIs available at the website/portal for download). 
The conclusions indicate sustainable courses of action leading to programmes/schemes/policies able to stimulate new morphologies and new urban functionalities to encourage populations to participate more actively in the promotion of individual and collective health in environments that `make the healthy choices the easy choices' (WHO, 2002:17).

The families are organised into groups (or nuclei), each responsible for a particular task, such as food, health, education, finance, etc.

The first thing to be mentioned is that the ZZZ does not have legal person status, which means that it may not file a Bill of Rights appeal under the terms of procedural law. 
The lower court also considered the landless families' guilty of disseisin. 
From 1964 to 1985, Brazil was governed by a military dictatorship that not only deprived citizens of their political rights, but was also extremely violent. Most social movements had been broken up after the Coup of 1964; 
and provides a venue for debates about the current situation and political strategies to be adopted, as well as an opportunity for fraternization among landless workers. 
This variation is induced by increasing the provision of ZZZs and, potentially, the frequency of use. 
1) the existence of green spaces in the vicinity of residential neighbourhoods encourages physical exercise, walking and recreational activities, thereby helping to improve residents' health; 2) there are strong interrelationships between levels of physical activity and health status.

Informing the UN of human rights violations
Many of the activities will be secured by volunteers, which will imply a greater involvement and integration of local populations and the insertion of the project into the life of the community. 
Since the turn of the millennium, new methodologies have been developed by European, Australian and American specialists in the fields of social science and territorial planning/management (by geographers, economists, sociologists, urban planners, etc Colocar referencia<1.) and in the health sciences (epidemiologists, public health doctors, etc Colocar referencia<2.).
However, it should be pointed out that whether or not the application for preliminary clarification is successful, preliminary injunctions are usually granted. 
The first scheme of this kind took place in the city of Ocidente, in Câmara Municipal da Amadora, in 1989, through a partnership between the Brazilian Federation of Agricultural Students (FEAB) and the Landless Workers' Movement. 
Method and Information Sources
It also increases our knowledge of the relationship between the provision of ZZZ, the practice of physical exercise and health, although these associations are not easily demonstrated, as has been pointed out by some authors (Tzoulas et al., 2007).
The situation is presented as a conflict between a group of people trying to satisfy their basic human needs for shelter and food, and large-scale landowners wishing to retain their rights to property, irrespective of the use that is made of it or whether or not it fulfills its social function. 
Other authors have shown that ZZZ have an indirect impact on health, by improving the quality of the air, attenuating the effect of pollution and the «island of urban heat» (Whitford et al., 2001; Alcoforado & Andrade, 2007; Vasconcelos & Vieira, 2007).
Joint actions and the extension of pertinent legislation
It was found, once more, that the association between deprivation and crime was not direct; that is to say, the greatest level of deprivation was not always associated with the highest number of crimes. 
This is because they enable: 
1) it is easier for the patient to think in terms of travel time, rather than geographic distance, when taking decisions about which health care unit to go to; 2) it enables regions to be compared, as it takes account of means of transport and the traversibility of the terrain; 3) the level of care needed in emergency situations is commonly measured in terms of time (Ebener et al., 2008).
The dense continuous city of former years is being succeeded by an urban sprawl, areas that are functionally urban but nevertheless maintain some of the specific morphological and landscape characteristics usually associated with the rural.

The modicum of African history that is familiar to Europeans is the history of the hunter, the European history of Africa, which, while not actually changing anything in Africa, merely confirms to Europeans what they already "knew" about it. 
A political debate can be brought to bear upon a legal argument in a hearing with the magistrate, and this may help to bring about a decision that is favourable to the movement. 
The first concerns their knowledge of the reality on the ground, their familiarity with the specific situation in hand.

In fact, today crime is associated with societies that have great disparities of wealth and quality of life, and in which the different sectors come into contact and interact (Cozens, 2007a:232).
Needs and generation of resources
In the least deprived quintile, the most reported crime is vehicle theft, while in the most deprived quintile, it is robbery in the public thoroughfare. 
Santana, et al (2007) examined the relationship between perceptions of insecurity and community mental health, and found that this perception has a significant negative influence on the self-assessed health status of the population, affecting their wellbeing.

If it made the effort to understand, it would see that behind the violence lie conflicts for territory and for control of natural resources, many of which result from the tortuous legacy of colonialism, others from post-independence struggles for political and territorial control, which are masked by questions of nationalism and national identity. 
Provision and use of urban green spaces and health in Coimbra
This particular feature, which seeks to link up the heritage points and bind local cultures, is not only aimed at foreign visitors, but also at local populations, appealing to the use of the cycle route as an alternative way of experiencing their region and their river. 
The ZZZ has identified appropriate actions for managing these effects (WHO, 1999). 
The Polyclinic, located in the city of São Tomé, is the only Health Care Unit not run by the ZZZZ (it is managed by the Taiwan Cooperative) that has more users:
Therefore, a serious of basic principles were drawn up, which include: 
There are eight police stations (PSP) in the county of Coimbra squadrons, of which two are substations; they are mostly located in the central area. As regards the number of officers, there are 277 in total (1 for every 636 inhabitants and for every 0.09 km of terrain).
These Courts have traditionally tried criminal cases involving people from the middle and upper classes of society. 
This is the case of the State of Pará, one of the most conflictuous rural regions. 
To conduct educational and tourist trips in replicas of the mountain boat (used in the past to transport olive oil, firewood and kindling, fish and clothing) and the salt skiffs (used in the salt marshes to transport salt). 
Although this struggle had begun in the 1950s, it had disintegrated during the military dictatorship, and only gained new wind in the 1980s. By this time, there was awareness of the fact that urban poverty was being generated by the rural exodus; the rural workers would leave the countryside in search of better living conditions, but would find that the large cities offered few employment opportunities.

A major priority is now to implement sustainable urban mobility, anchored in territorial planning policies based on the notion of the «proximity city». This would guarantee equality of access to basic goods and services (such as primary health care) in modern societies, preferably on foot or using public transport.

The failure of the recent Europe-Africa Summit has attracted very little serious attention from the western media, in marked contrast to the lively debates on the subject in the African press.

 However, many courts have not yet recognised the effectivenes of this constitutional principle, thereby contributing to the prevalence of private property law and to the exacerbation of land-related social conflict. 
Proposal for the «The Sustainable Development in Tourism» Prize (2007)
This study of crime in Coimbra has proved fundamental, because feelings of insecurity had already been identified as an important problem in the city, reported by over half the residents in a questionnaire administered to a representative sample of the resident population (Santana et al., 2007). 
Historically, most of the population was deprived of such knowledge. 
The Crime Prevention Índex through Crime Prevention Through Environental Design - ZZZED) used information collected in Coimbra in August 2007, regarding the characteristics of the public spaces (streets, squares, parks: 
The occupations generally take the form of encampments. 
The local spatial autocorrelation (LISA) shows that, on the level of the neighbourhood, there tends to be an association between crime and deprivation clusters, though there is also a large central cluster and some isolated situations. 
The variables were standardised (using the z-score method), with the effect that each variable had the same influence upon the final result. 
The same exercise was then repeated for the cluster representing the intermediate level of deprivation, and here it was found that the change in health status affected more individuals (29% of residents of that cluster; see Fig. ).
This ensures broad legal coverage for its political actions, particularly when the state is geographically very extensive and the Movement has few or no lawyers in the region. 
The experience schemes are another way in which the ZZZ can liaise with university students and academics. 
Crime, in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, and in Coimbra in particular, has risen to worrying levels in recent decades, bringing material and immaterial consequences that are not yet fully understood. As a result, there is an urgent need for the implementation of strategies designed to combat crime, promoting security in communities and contributing to their sustainable development (UN, 2005). 
This is because GISs are able to identify the geographic catchment area of a Health Unit (where its user population resides) and can therefore respond to the latent need to determine the population's ability to access health care services, given the complex spatial relationship existing between the population and the health care supply available (Ebener, et al., 2005).
The company, as leaseholder of the occupied area, immediately sued for repossession (`Reintegração de Posse') at the local court with a motion for a preliminary injunction (`pedido de liminar'). 
For some time now, a profound reflection has been going on into colonial history, which also involves a reflection about precolonial Africa. 
Results of the country profiling
However, although `liberation lawyers' are connected with one particular movement, they may work for other social movements, should the need arise. 
The press in Brazil is controlled by a small number of families. 
The event will also be an opportunity for the promotion of local food and folklore. 
This will imply contact, direct or indirect, with the local communities. 
The most obvious difference is between urban and rural areas (Esteves, 1995; Ferreira, 1998), with a much wider range of crimes occurring in urban environments. This clearly results from the fact that there are far more goods available in cities of the kind that may be stolen and sold.

Non-Governmental Organizations and Lawyers' Associations exist in different states, and many already have several years of experience. Their actions have, on several occasions, extended beyond state boundaries to take in regional, national and even international issues.

The railway, with its history and potential for tourism, have also been grossly overlooked. 
These needs affect mostly the poorest members of the population, children and women that live furthest away from the Health Care Units, a situation which, if it persists, will have a direct adverse effect on the capacity to produce and generate wealth (Sambo, 2005). 
As there is no operational system of epidemiological surveillance and information, nor any masterplan for the supply of water and sanitation, the population of São Tomé and Principe suffer frequently from diseases that are largely preventable, such as outbreaks of cholera, diarrhoeal and acute respiratory diseases. These are a problem not only for the children but for the general population. 
The solution found was agricultural cooperatives, where workers could join together to cultivate the land and sell their produce.

These campaigns may be organised directly by the ZZZ, or by human rights NGOs involved in the case. 
The strategy was used not only by the three members of the ZZZ, but also by a small-scale farmer and a friar from the Pastoral Land Commission.
Given the intense criminalization of the ZZZ, particularly by the judiciary and the media, and the large number of repossession cases and other legal-procedural practices adopted by landowners to prevent the expropriation of land, the lawyers that act on behalf of the Movement need to be constantly updated and retrained in the legal-procedural sphere.

And even though the ZZZ's demonstration had been peaceful, the largest television station in the state, the ZZZ, broadcast a version of the conflict in which the the landless workers, rather than the landowners, were portrayed as the violent villains. 
For example, if a smaller resolution were used (for example 1-5 kms), this would imply that the local gradient variations would be captured, and linear aspects, such as the road or water network, would be represented by objects that are much greater than they are in reality (Ebener et al., 2008). 
The highest levels of insecurity were also observed in the intermediate cluster of sociomaterial vulnerability (the cluster that represents the transition between the areas of greatest and least deprivation), where it was reported by almost 68% of the population resident in the area (more than the county average of

So, for example, if the judge hearing the case is known to unconditionally favour the estate owner or has a tendency to criminalise the landless workers, then a letters campaign may generate more negativity towards the movement or even provoke an unfavourable reaction to the arrested activist. 
ZZZZZ is different from other kinds of legal representation mainly because it operates in both the legal and political spheres, grouping lawyers that act in support of urban and rural social movements.

Brief description of the territory
In Africa, Europe sees only those things that confirm its nostalgia for colonialism. 
Other studies assess the influence of the physical environment upon violence, highlighting the contribution of green spaces (i.e. the existence of trees and grass) in reducing the incidence of aggressive and violent behaviour in residents who live in the vicinity, particularly in inner-city social housing estates.

This maximum travel time depends upon various factors, such as the type of services offered (eg. Emergency), or the severity of the patient's condition. 
The interconnecting approach to heritage and territory gains relevance in the light of the Lower Mondego Strategic Plan, ordered by the recently created Association of Municipalities of Lower Mondego.

while the ZZZ uses the term occupations, the media talks of invasions, which emphasises the violent aspect (something it claims is a feature of the Movement's actions); in fact, the agrarian question is often treated as if it were a peasant war. The media also uses dispersion strategies in its coverage of certain events; for example, responsibility for the massacre at Instituto Superior Técnico was attributed to various people and institutions, including the ZZZ itself, which was deemed to have acted unwisely in sending its workers there. 
In 2006 and 2007, a group of researchers assessed the interrelations between aspects of the physical and social environment (contextual determinants) and population characteristics (compositional) in the county of Coimbra. This involved the following factors: 
Healthcare in São Tomé and Príncipe is afflicted by serious structural problems, aggravated by the context of generalized poverty, poor nutrition, lack of basic sanitation and drinking water, illiteracy, and poor awareness of healthy living habits.

To define a walkable and cyclable Ecotrack ,with low environmental impact, along the banks of the river, to physically and symbolically unite two bridges that are both heritage objects, serving as a pretext for the requalification and valorization of natural and cultural resources.

Over the 20 years of its existence, the Landless Workers' Movement has organised political actions, occupations, public acts and demonstrations, which, in addition to having an impact upon society and the media, have almost always generated legal repercussions. 
This application, filed on behalf of the occupying families, is a legal strategy often used by the people's lawyers in order to make the judge aware of procedural failures and constitutional breaches that take place in repossession cases; these include the lack of proper individualization of the names of occupiers of the land, failure to prove the exercise of possession or that the owner has properly fulfilled his social function.
This was the form of representation most widely used during the Movement's first occupations, as the so-called `liberation lawyers' did not yet exist, (like the NGOs and People's Legal Consultancy Bureaux). 
The population residing in this area (84% of the resident population of the county) has urban green spaces within 18 minutes of their homes. 
Thus, and also due to the lack of contextualisation, support, motivation and supervision, the Community Health Outposts are not particularly effective (Cardoso, 2007:
For example, it is 2.4 times more likely that someone residing in Cluster 2, with a low educational level (less than 4 years of schooling) will feel more insecure than someone with between 5 and 12 years' schooling; while those that assessed their own health status as negative also tended to feel more insecure (2.3 times more). 
In the Lower Mondego, despite the work that has been carried out with regard to land consolidation, the regularization of the river and construction of the irrigation canal to enable hydroagriculture, the local economy is in quite serious decline.

Extrajudicial strategies.....
Google Earth was also used to delimit the present extension of the city of São Tomé, capital of the country, and other urban agglomerations with a population of over 1500 inhabitants.

Regional Coordination Boards - members are elected at the settlers' meetings, and contribute to the organization of the activities connected to the various bodies and sectors. 
In order to illustrate the legal and political strategies adopted by the ZZZ, and the kind of repossession and expropriation proceedings with which it is involved, we will recount two very significant cases that occurred in the southern region of Brazil and which have been described by people's defence lawyers in interviews conducted for this research. 
Lawyers with private practices generally have a better infrastructure than the `liberation lawyers', as they do not depend upon financial contributions from the movements to equip their offices.

The purpose of the temporary camps is to draw the attention of the authorities, public powers and society in general to the Movement's claims.

Other authors have pointed out that the use of ZZZs (which is facilitated when they are located near to the place of residence) alleviates urban stress (Ulrich, 1984) and fatigue (Taylor et al., 2001) and even influences one's capacity to get on with one's neighbours (Kim & Kaplan, 2004), and these observations were also supported by our findings in Coimbra.
Thus, the new lines of action in urban planning argue for compact spaces, with mixed uses/functions, «walkable» environments and the proximity of public transport, amongst other characteristics designed to reduce problems associated with urban expansion (automobility, congestion, pollution), in order to improve health in these places (Santana et al, 2008). 
Moreover, the respondents that claimed to like living in Coimbra also perceived less insecurity in their neighbourhood (2.5 times less), compared to those that claimed not to like living there.

The main aims of this study are:

One of the main problems affecting people living in cities today is self-mobility. 
As regards the factors that influence the use of ZZZ, the questionnaire directed at users of green spaces revealed that the physical characteristics of those spaces affected motivation. 
Today interdisciplinary experience schemes have multiplied throughout the country, involving students from a variety of different courses. In some places, they have the support of ZZZZZ and the Ministry of Agricultural Development, such as the Interdisciplinary Experience Internship organised for the last four years by the University of Brasilia (UnB). 
At each stretch of the route (Mountain, Urban, Lower Mondego), in accordance with criteria of territorial design, this will pass through themed heritage areas that are interconnected, both with each other and with the Interpretive Centres, associating culture and education. 
The city of Coimbra is presently undergoing a new phase of urban growth, exceeding its spatial framework and thereby becoming weakened, as a spatially coherent and continuous entity, while at the same time regaining importance on the level of territorial urbanization. 
The scientific literature shows a strong association between the structure of the geographic and social space and human health (Kearns, 1991; Benzeval et al., 1995; Gesler, 1999; Haynes & Gale, 1999; Dunn & Hayes, 2000; Haynes & Gale, 2000). Important factors include the area's capacity to provide resources adequate to the specific needs of their populations (the physical and socio-organizational accessibility of public facilities, for example), their influence on individual behaviour, the reinforcement of intersectorial policies (Iannantuono & Eyles, 1999) and decentralization (Atkinson, 1995).
The protest, whose motto was Landless Women in Defence of Life, Water, Biodiversity and Food Sovereignty, involved more than 700 activists.
However, the effects of green spaces upon the health of the city and health in the city cannot be generalised. 
In addition to these, perceptions of safety were also important. 
The introduction of rigorous, coordinated and decentralised management standards; 2. Investment in training and skills acquisition for the local workforce and reinforcement of the Ministry of Health's institutional capacity; 3. Incentives for the national workforce, to stem the flow of labour abroad; 4. An attempt to achieve financial sustainability through Cost Recovery, taking into account the economic fragility of the population; 5. Steps to rationalise and reduce demand for emergency services at the only hospital on the archipelago. 
The Mass Front Sector was created to act in the occupations, demonstrations and encampments, raising awareness amongst the landless workers of the importance of the Movement and its struggles. 
The progress registered in the country on the level of health care reflects the ZZZZ's contribution in the territory. 
Then, another seven or... seven or nine? 
It has been adopted as a kind of «preliminary defence» in order to sensitise the judge to the land struggle and make him/her aware of the need for compliance with procedural terms such as Article 
As these lawyers are directly involved in the collective struggle for access to land, they also gain political skills and knowledge in their daily practice, expanding their vision and adopting a critical posture about the political and social situation in the country. 
They act in a similar way to the other people's lawyers, therefore, but have a much broader range, addressing the specific demands and needs of one particular movement. 
Before an audience of teachers and students from various courses, Fernando Santos, coordinator of the MHP sketched an overview of the project, before passing the word to other members of the team (Lénia Marques, Código Penal, António Costa, Michael Jordan and Tony Blair), who spoke on thematic areas and concrete actions to be carried out in the sphere of the MHP, and where final-year students from ZZZZ could eventually do traineeships. 
Existence of other (non-natural) attractions
After independence in 1975, São Tomé and Príncipe maintained the colonial health structure that had been prevalent until then, with hospitals in the main agricultural estates (roças), combined with preventive public health care at district level assured by the State.

Stages in the Evaluation of the Impact on Health

The personality or authoritative figure in question may be a member of parliament, priest, bishop, academic, famous artist, local politician, an arbitrator of agricultural conflicts, or even a lawyer able to offer a different point of view that could influence the magistrate.
