How to contribute
How to contribute
If you would like to make a contribution to help improve and expand COMPARA, please contact us here. Here are some of the ways in which your contribution can be very useful:
- If you are an author
- If you are a translator
- If you are a publisher
- If you are a trainee translator
- If you are also working on a Portuguese-English corpus
If you are an author
If you are an author from any English or Portuguese-speaking country whose work has been published in both English and Portuguese, and if you would like to see an extract of your work in COMPARA, please let us know. The authors who have already given us permission to include extracts of their works in COMPARA are listed in the Corpus acknowledgements page. Although COMPARA has so far only contacted writers of fiction, we would also like to hear from writers of non-fiction.
If you are a translator
If you translate from English into Portuguese or from Portuguese into English and would like to see an extract of one of your translations included in COMPARA, please let us know. You must own the copyright to your translation in order to be able to give us permission to include it COMPARA. The translators who have already given us permission to include their works in COMPARA are listed in the Corpus acknowledgements page. If you do not own the copyright to your translation, you will have to apply for the owner's permission. We can advise how. Please note that at the present phase of the COMPARA project we are only accepting published translations.
If you are a publisher
If your company has published Portuguese works in English translation or English works in Portuguese translation, and if you would like extracts of some of those works to be included in COMPARA, please let use know. The publishers who have already given us permission to include extracts of their publications in COMPARA are listed in the Corpus acknowledgements page.
If you are a trainee translator
If you are a trainee translator, you might be interested in helping us prepare texts for COMPARA so that they become machine-readable and searchable. We wouldn't be able to pay you, but we'd offer you the training and you could include it in your CV. Let us know if you are interested. Here is a list of our trainees.
If you are also working on a Portuguese-English corpus
If you have begun to compile your own Portuguese-English corpus and would like to make it available on the Web via the COMPARA-DISPARA partnership, please let us know.
